MERCHANTS OR LEADERS: That is the Question!
in Colombia, and much of the world, development suffers from a large deficit dirigencial characterized by three harsh realities:
1. We have many more merchants to managers,
2. We have many more business managers,
3. And we have more entrepreneurs leaders.
Indeed, it produces a lot of despair do cling to positions of power-politics, business, union-a lot of characters with minds of traders. Maybe that's why management journals, almost without exception, have names like "Power", "Money", "Fortune." It is the mentality predatory power understood as domination and not service. In this environment, it is difficult migrate to models of sustainable and responsible development. need to reverse the pyramid of leadership in our societies . Otherwise, what we expect in the 21st century will be a series of recurrent crises, increasingly frequent, increasingly deep. Social crisis, economic and environmental alike.
First, universities should be thorough rethinking their curricula, both in their careers "technical" and "management." Use quotation marks because the dichotomy between technicians and managers is false and must be overcome. Also our organizations must be thoroughly reviewing their profiles management and compensation models, especially those related to commercial areas, to change the paradigms of business and professional success. For starters, no more yuppies, please! It's the least!
